Club Meeting Minutes

November 2007

Ed Bickham of the VBA was in attendance to present VBA's case pertaining to what they do for the hunter, but still not saying anything specific about what the VBA does for Dixie. A member made it perfectly clear that if the voting membership present, voted to withdrawal from the VBA, he would not renew his membership with Dixie. Another club officer made mention that he knew personally of other Dixie members who would not renew their memberships if we withdrew from the VBA. So before ( and that was key - BEFORE ), a motion could be made to withdrawal,  the lines were clearly drawn and the discussion was dropped for now.

For those of you with questions concerning  the subject - let me spell it out.

    The premise is NOT to see what we can get from our club, but rather what does OUR CLUB receive for our funding of the VBA?  That is the issue. Clear enough? I think so.

    So, make your opinion known. Come to your club meeting. Voice your opinion. Recruit a member.

Other Topics / Passed Items:

New Club membership dues:

Single member went up to $40

Couple/Family went up $50

New shoot fees starting January 2008.

Non-members $12, up from $10

Members of any other club, $10, up from $8

Dixie Members $6, down from $8

Youth $5

Cubs $3, down from $5

Nominations for 2008 Dixie Officers: Voting will occur at our annual banquet, December 9th.

Dennis Scott was nominated to remain President.

Donnie White was nominated to remain Vice President.

Wayne Chadwick was nominated to remain Treasurer.

Lindsay Miller was nominated to become the new Recording Secretary, replacing Bo Slaughter.

Rob Burnham was nominated to remain our representative to the VBA.

Mike Cox was nominated for Range Captain .

Referral Program:

Each person that refers a new person to join the Dixie team (membership) gets to shoot for free for 1 shoot (either Traditional OR Open)

Money Class/Shoot:

It was proposed to have a few money shoots in the field of different types of shots, a price will be given to that class and part of the money will go into a pot, based on the number of people to join that class will determine the amount won, no trophy will be given and not required to do this extra type of shoot. More info later TBD

Raccoon shoots:

We might arrange a nighttime raccoon shoot, more info later TBD

Next meetings date TBD, the 4th Tues is on Christmas so it might be the week before (the 18th) unless changed at a later date it will be at Donnie Frenier's house at 7:30pm

Reminder about the Banquet, Dec. 9th at 5pm at Eley's, everyone needs to RSVP Dennis ASAP
